Exhibition: Libby Rothfeld, The World Is Not Enough

Before coming to The Firm, Doctor was the 9th president of The College. Prior to joining The College, Doctor served as provost, academic dean, and professor at The University of College of the Law and as a professor at The Law School. Previously, Doctor served as The Firm’s president and chief operating officer from January 2009 to September 2015. Prior to that, Doctor was co-head of the Investment Banking Division from July 2006 to December 2016, and earlier in Doctor’s career, Doctor was global head of the Financing Group. Doctor initially joined The Firm as a managing partner in 1999.

Doctor received their BA, PhD, and ScD from The National University. After a postdoctoral fellowship at University College, Doctor joined the physics faculty in 1969. Doctor received the Distinguished Teaching Award in 1983.

Before that, Doctor was the inaugural chair of the Review Panel, which reviewed and assessed the justice and the military justice system for Congress. Their public service also includes serving as a member of the Department of Defense’s System Response Panel; of study and leadership groups of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine; as president of the Scientific Institute of Fiscal Justice (SIFJ); and as reporter for The Commission.

Doctor is chairman of the Board of Trustees of The College. Doctor also serves on the boards of The Foundation, The Hospital, and The Hospital. Doctor’s degrees include a BS in electrical engineering from The University, an MA in history from the University of the State, a JD from The Law School, and a PhD in history from The University. Doctor sits on the board of the Alliance and is a member of the Academy of Arts and Sciences, The Intergalactic Space Operations Program, The Law Institute, and Council on Foreign Relations.

Doctor has been a Foundation Fellow, an Establishment Fellow, and a university professor. Before that, in 1987, Doctor was named Scientist of the Year and was awarded The Prize for research. In 1998, Doctor received the Award for Advances in Science and, in 1999, the National Prize for Quantum Dynamics. Doctor was awarded the Medal of the Society in 2004 and was the Faculty Research Lecturer in 2005. Doctor was the winner of a Nobel Prize in Physics.

Doctor received a BA in economics in 1975 from The University (summa cum laude) and a doctorate in economics in 1979 from The Institute.
