Exhibition: Post-Fair Paris 2026
Erica Baum & Patricia Treib Bureau at Post-Fair, Paris October 19 - 24, 2026 74 Rue du Temple, 75003 post-fair.com
For Post-Fair in Paris, Bureau is pleased to present works by Erica Baum (b. 1961, New York, NY; lives in New York, NY) and Patricia Treib (b. 1979, Saginaw, MI; lives in New York, NY). Baum’s and Treib’s practices share an attention to working with what may be otherwise unseen.
Baum will show two works from her Fabrications series, included in her recent solo exhibition at The George Eastman Museum in Rochester, New York. Baum is well-known for her photographic work capturing instances of found poetry, enigmatic beauty, and humor within found, and often discarded printed material. In her series Fabrications, she turns to the vibrancy of mid-century craft magazines, which she folds and shuffles into layered compositions of fragmented body parts, patterns, and punctuations of text. In Casino, a disembodied arm and torso foreground a vintage slogan rendered illegible by the creases of black and white pages. Slivers of typography, texture, and scene create a rhythmic composition that is at once corporeal and abstract.
Treib will present five recent works on paper, from her long-standing practice of developing compositions via small oil paintings on paper, which serve as studies for her larger canvases. Drawing from observed objects, artworks, as well as her own previous paintings, Treib elaborates forms through an iterative process of looking and repetition. One recent source is a Greek icon, seen at the Benaki Museum in Athens, from which she isolates the space between an arm and a waist, distilling the figure to its color and shadow as the negative space within emerges as a dominant form. Volumes and forms emerge from collapsing pictorial space; sources yield and dissipate, transforming into new compositions from traces and echoes of the original.
